When Jesus said: “Come, follow me,” that call was issued to people living in a certain culture at a certain period of time. In his part of the Imperial world, “taking up the cross” meant witnessing to a way of life that was set apart from entrenched religion and ever-expanding Empire. Michael’s approach to biblical-based spirituality tries to make the scriptures “come alive” in a way that invites contemporary disciples to ground their lives in the Word of God.
